New Journal: Transformative Works and Cultures

Academic

LibraryThe first issue of a new journal about popular media, fan communities, and transformative works — Transformative Works and Cultures — has just been posted:

“We invite papers on all related topics, including but not limited to fan fiction, fan vids, mashups, machinima, film, TV, anime, comic books, video games, and any and all aspects of the communities of practice that surround them. TWC’s aim is twofold: to provide a publishing outlet that welcomes fan-related topics, and to promote dialogue between the academic community and the fan community.”

If you’re an active writer in or about fandom or are just plain ol’ interested in reading about fandoms or pop culture, give it a look! By the way, Veruska Sabucco, an independent scholar and the author of the book Shonen Ai: Il nuovo immaginario erotico femminile tra Oriente e Occidente (2000), is on the review board, so BL-related articles would probably not be looked at askance there.  :-)
