And Now, the Scouring….
Whew. I’ve finished Version 4, Draft 1 of The King’s Monster at last! And I think this version will finally work; it’s much grittier and less fantastic than the earlier versions, but it hangs together better (no pun intended).
However, now it’s time to start scouring out the rough spots, checking for plot holes, and furnishing white rooms.
I find the English system of titles to be unduly complicated, but I’m more or less adopting it, which means searching and replacing surnames with territorial names and figuring out what rank my various nobles really ought to be holding. Of course, I’m sure I’ll make some errors in usage, so I’m already planning to blame them on the fantasy element. 
I’ve already conflated some English and Scottish governmental offices and titles — anyone else out there think that “marquess” sounds like the feminine of “marquis,” instead of just another version of it?
