Learning Spaces & Technology Workshop

Ashen Wings

Agnes Scott College Evans Dining HallHere I am in rainy Decatur, Georgia, yawning despite the fact that it’s only 6:45 p.m. California time. I only got four hours of sleep last night, because I had to get up at 2 a.m. in order to catch an early-morning flight from LAX. I’m here for a Learning Spaces & Technology being hosted by Agnes Scott College on the lower floor of the lovely dining hall pictured here.

The workshop is attended by independent colleges who are working on a project related to the integration of learning spaces and technology; it includes speakers, breakout sessions, and consultations between university teams and architects who specialize in this area. Since CLU prides itself on integrating technology with its curriculum and is planning a new social & behavioral sciences building, we’re here to discuss how to make our spaces more conducive to student research/creative work and experiential learning.

Of course, when I see Jeff Han’s hi-res multi-touch computer screens, I think of how awesome they’d be for multimedia storytelling/roleplaying games, rather than how useful they’d be in the classroom. If I had one of these toys, my internet addiction would increase a hundredfold!
