NaNo Update
November 15: Passed the 25K mark. Whew! I wasn’t sure I was going to make it. 25K to go, but Thanksgiving break is coming up, so I have hope.
I’ve got a clearer idea of what this strange world looks like now — a bit like a Ptolomeaic model of the universe, except each ring is a landmass — and the main character Arihant is coming along grumpily and well. Gruff, disagreeable, a hard shell around what’ll turn out to be a soft and gooey interior, eventually. 
Young Madan’s personality needs more fleshing out, but I suspect that’ll happen in December (”rewriting is for December!”). At least I’m finally getting to the flirting parts, so he has a chance to develop a little more clearly. I’m pleased with how the reptilian/birdlike hasata character’s speech is giving hints about his culture, especially in his avoidance of names and pronouns. Which, btw, isn’t easy to write! I’ll be relieved when Arihant finally earns his respect and name….
