Whata coincidence..while trying to survive the egyptian curse I was watching TV and the show “California Gold” on public channel tonigh. It was a special on Manzanar showing the photos that an internee, who had had built an illegal camera, had taken. He took 1,000s of photographs which exist to this date about their activities during this infamous period. They interviewed a number of survivors at the site. If you can get past Huell Howser, the commentator, the program was quite interesting.

“Divided Loyalties” Accepted!

Short Stories

My Manzanar internment camp story, “Divided Loyalties,” has been accepted into the Hardboiled Horrors anthology! The anthology, which is a horror/mystery crossover collection, is edited by James Van Pelt and will be published by Notorious Press.

The editor asked me for a revision of the story in August, shortly after I learned that my mother had died. I was in Michigan, still shaken and struggling to cope with everything, when I got his email. He was kind enough to give me a month to submit my revision, time I desperately needed — it took me several weeks to feel ready to start writing again. So I’m especially glad that the story was accepted, given the circumstances.
