Short Stories, Clockwork Heart

At some point soon my story “Night Shift” will be available at the Worlds of Wonder webzine. You can buy a downloadable issue here, although it’s also available online. My story “Changing the End” is due to appear at Anotherealm this month, though it’s not there yet this morning. I’ll post a link when it is. “Galvanics” was rejected by The Pedestal Magazine. Off to the next zine, but probably not today, as I’m leaving soon to visit the nephew while he’s at Dad & Nancy’s.The Juno Books newsletter had a blurb for CH that mostly reiterates the cover blurb I sent them: “THE CLOCKWORK HEART is a steampunkish romantic fantasy (are we launching a new subgenre?) featuring Taya, one of Ondinium’s metal-winged couriers, who is privileged to travel freely across the city’s sectors and mingle indiscriminately among its castes. But even she can’t out fly the tangled web of terrorism, loyalty, murder, and secrets that is cast around her when a daring mid-air rescue leads to her involvement with the Forlores: handsome, brilliant Alister, who sits on Ondinium’s governing council and writes programs for the Great Engine, and awkward, sharp-tongued Cristof, who has exiled himself from his caste and repairs clocks in the lowest sector of the city. What secrets are they hiding, and how far can love carry them in a city that beats to the ticking of a clockwork heart?” I thought the comment about a new subgenre was kind of amusing, because it’s true that CH has been kinda hard to describe….
